Before choosing your course, make sure you check the required level of English to get admitted!

IELTS BD

All colleges and universities require English as part of their admission process. Colleges and universites set their own levels – the minimum being IELTS 5.0 (upper intermediate).

To be accepted to university, you generally will need to have at least IELTS 5.5 (academic). Sometimes IELTS 6.0 or higher is required depending on the course. IELTS (academic) is different to IELTS (general) only in the reading and writing bands. Universities usually require minimum band scores for reading, writing, listening and speaking. Sometimes an overall band score will be enough. IELTS exams are undertaken at the British Council. IELTS certificates have a validity of 2 years. There is no pass or fail. Instead, you receive a score of 1-9 depending on your level.

IELTS English examinations are also required to study in other countries such as the UK, Canada, USA and New Zealand. In fact, IELTS has many uses in English speaking countries such as for immigration, employment and study purposes. Australian colleges and schools generally only accepts IELTS. However, other internationally recognised English exams may also be accepted. These are listed below.
